Born:  Sept. 14, 1839 - Richmond, England.   
Aug. 3, 1861:  Enrolled at Hartford, CT. for three
years.  
  
Aug. 13, 1861 at New York City.  Mustered in as 2nd
Lt., Capt. Mallory's Company.  Became Co. C., 2nd New
York Cavalry.  Companies C and D were known as the
Connecticut Squadron.  

P.O. Address at time of enlistment:  318 Greenwich
St., New York, N.Y. % J.J. Morrison - Merchant.

Height:  5' 5".  Complexion: Dark   
Eyes: Gray    Hair:  Dark

Sick from Dec. 17, 1862 with Typhoid and Chronic
Diarrhea.  Absent sick in New York City till May 1864.
 Address while sick was 411 Broadway, N.Y., N.Y.  
  
June 9, 1863 - At the Battle of Brandy Station, Va. he
received a gunshot wound to the right thigh, a shell
wound to middle finger of the right hand and suffered
an injury to his big right toe by horse standing on
it.  He also suffered from a hyrnia caused by the
strain of trying to remount his horse after being shot
in thigh, having fallen off upon receiving wound. 
  
Was in U.S.A. General Hospital, Mansion House Branch,
Alexandria, Va.
  
On June 19, 1863 he was on crutches according to a
member of the regiment and was suffering much from
his injuries.  
    
Sept. 1863 he was detached as Acting Assistant
Inspector General of the 1st Brigade, 3rd Division,
Cavalry Corps, Army of the Potomac.  He held this
position until his discharge on Sept. 10, 1864.  
  
He received a pension of $2/month from June 19, 1865. 
He applied for an increase on Nov. 27, 1880 and again
on March 5, 1888.

$12/month from July 5, 1890
$15/month from Sept. 16, 1909  
$25/month from June 1912  
  
In 1890 he was approved for Pension increase due to
complete and complicated Hernia, shell wound of right
hand and gunshot wound of right thigh. 
  
An increase in pension request submitted in Sept. 1909
was signed by Major General Daniel Sickles who stated
he had known Poughkeepsie for 40 years. 
  
He also suffered from Asthma.  
  
In the Winter of 1864 he went into the Brokerage
Business at No. 27 Pine St., New York City with a
partner, Edward Krollpfeiffer.  This lasted until
1873.   

Nothing found as to what he did for a living after
1873.  Except see below regarding his addresses.

In 1890 Krollpfeiffer stated that while they were in
business together Poughkeepsie suffered much from his
injuries at times.

In 1892 his height was given at 5' 5" and weight at
138 lbs, pulse rate 90.  A review board found him
entitled to the following disabled rating, 10/18 due
to hernia, 2/18 for finger wound and 2/18 for thigh
wound.
  
In 1889, 1892 and 1909 he gave his P.O. Address as 4
Irving Place, New York City. 
  
In 1912 he gave his address as 124 East 15th Street.  

In 1915 he gave it as 130 East 15th St.

During above dates his 4 Irving Place Address was the
Headquarters of the Consolidated Gas Co., today's
Consolidated Edison Co., and still is.  By 1912 and
1915 his 15th Street Addresses were part of the 4
Irving Place Building.  130 East 15 is an entrance to
the building.  The 130 entrance was built in 1911. 
Have not been able to determine if he did work for the
company.  
  
Frederick Poughkeepsie died March 21, 1921 while
living at:  61 Garfield Avenue, Atlantic Highlands,
New Jersey.  
    
Sept. 14, 1875:  Married Josephine Cody at New York
City by Rev. R. T. Saterlee.  
  
Josephine was born: June 15, 1857.

Josephine received a Widow's Pension of:  
$30.00/month from Sept. 27, 1921
$40.00/month from July 4, 1930  
  
Josephine died on July 18, 1941 at the home of her
Daughter Martha and Son In Law, H. R. Umber.  172-33
125 Avenue South, Jamaica, N.Y.  She moved from 61
Garfield Ave., Atlantic Highlands, N.J. to her
Daughters in early 1941.   

At the time of Capt. Poughkeepsie's Death his Son
Frederick's Address was 842a Madison Street, Brooklyn,
N.Y.
